COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. TO EQUIP THE STUDENTS WITH A STRONG UNDERSTANDING OF THE ELEMENTS OF ART
2. TO STRENGTHEN THE STUDENTS ABILITY TO SUCCESSFULLY EMPLOY VARIOUS MEDIA IN PRODUCING ARTWORK.
3. TO UNDERSTAND ART AS AN IMPORTANT PART OF MAN'S EXPRESSION THROUGHOUT HISTORY.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
1. COMPLETE AND TURN IN ALL ASSIGNMENTS BY DUE DATE, ADHERING TO CRITERIA SET BY INSTRUCTOR.
2. ABIDE BY ALL CLASSROOM RULES, RULES SET FORTH BY COLLIERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL AND SHELBY COUNTY SCHOOLS.
3. PAY ART FEE OF $15.00 BY THURSDAY, AUGUST 14. CASH OR CHECKS MADE PAYABLE TO CHS ART DEPT.
4. PURCHASE SUPPLIES ON LIST BY THURSDAY, AUGUST 4 FROM CHS ART DEPT ($40.00) OR SUPPLIES MAY BE PURCHASED FROM ANOTHER RELIABLE SOURCE AND DUE IN CLASS BY FRIDAY, AUGUST 29TH.
5. ALLOW THE TEACHER TO TEACH AND FELLOW STUDENTS TO LEARN.

CRITERIA FOR GRADING
1. EVERY ASSIGNMENT MUST BE COMPLETED AND TURNED IN
2. EVERYTHING MUST BE TURNED IN ON TIME. DUE DATES ARE ANNOUNCED SEVERAL DAYS IN ADVANCE TO ALLOW STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN ABSENT TIME TO COMPLETE WORK
3. FOR STUDENTS TO RECEIVE CREDIT, PROJECTS MUST DEMONSTRATE UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPTS INVOLVED AND MUST ADHERE TO ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND CRITERIA GIVEN
4. EACH ASSIGNMENT WILL HAVE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS AND CRITERIA UNIQUE TO THE ASSIGNMENT. IN ADDITION, EACH ASSIGNMENT WILL BE EVALUATED ON THE FOLLOWING CONSTANTS:

YOUR GRADE WILL BE CALCULATED BY THE FOLLOWING THREE CATEGORIES:
PARTICIPATION GRADE- BASED ON THE STUDENTS' ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT IN CLASS AND IT MEASURES WHETHER THE STUDENT IS ON-TASK OR NOT(WEEKLY) AND NOTES.15%
DAILY GRADES- SEVERAL PER NINE WEEKS INCLUDING QUIZZES. 35%
PROJECTS- SEVERAL PER NINE WEEKS. 50%

IF A STUDENT NEEDS EXTRA HELP OR WORK TIME, I WILL STAY AFTER SCHOOL ON TUESDAY AND THURSDAY AFTERNOONS FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR.THESE DAYS MAY BE CHANGED AS NEEDED. TALK TO ME AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU PLAN TO STAY.
