Overview:
This is an introductory course to the field of Family and Consumer Sciences.
The units of study include personality development, nutrition and foods, child
development, family living, housing and home management, consumer education,
and textiles and clothing. Critical skills such as decision-making, problem solving,
critical thinking, technology, work and family management, and work place readiness
are reinforced through authentic experiences. Through exposure to the varied
courses of study in Family and Consumer Science, the student may discover an
aptitude and interest in a specific area, which can be pursued through the various
semester courses offered for future concentrated study.
Textbook: Creative Living, plus supplemental textbook when appropriate.
