1. All students will keep a notebook. It should be a 3-ring, loose-leaf notebook. All work for this class will be kept in the notebook. There will be divider tabs in the notebook for the following sections: Roman Civilization, chapter notes, grammar, vocabulary, and derivatives. Each section within the notebook will also have dividers for each 9 weeks. Notebooks may be taken up and graded any time during the nine weeks (with or without notice). Always keep them up-to-date and complete. They will be graded on organization, neatness, and comprehensiveness.

2. In the vocabulary section, if the word is a noun, you must give the nominative, genitive, and gender of the word, and then define it. If the word is a verb, you will give the 4 principle parts and define it.

3. In the derivative section, you will give the English word, the Latin from which it is derived, the part of speech, and then the definition. For example:
portal -- porta -- N. -- door, gate, entrance.

4. Present or Not, a student is responsible for his work. That means when he is absent it is his responsibility to find out his assignments and turn them in.
    a. Arrangements will be made for extended absence (more than 3 consecutive days).
    b. When it is necessary for a student to be absent, he should follow his syllabus.
    c. If a student is present when I assign a test, but misses a day or 2 between and returns the day of the test, he will take the test.
    d. A student should obtain the phone number of a reliable classmate to call for assignments when he is absent.
    e. If a student has no admit or an unexcused absence, zeroes will be recorded for all work missed.

5. Point values will be designated for each assignment. The nine weeks grade will consist of the student's percentage of points possible.
