Rules and Regulations

 

Materials needed EVERY DAY

  1. BLUE or BLACK INK PEN ONLY  (NO PENCIL)
  2. One folder with Pockets 
  3. Textbook
  4. Cover sheet

 

 

 

 

Notes

Notes will be checked twice during the quarter for a quiz grade.  Notes are the ONLY thing that can be written in anything you want.

 

Bell work

Bell work will be done EVERY DAY.  It is your responsibility to make sure you keep up with each question AND correct answer.  When you are absent bell work can be found in the blue folder. 

Bell work quizzes will be given twice during the quarter.  I will NOT tell you when.  You are allowed to use your bell work to answer the questions.   It is important to keep up with bell work each day including the date.

 

Articles (Extra Credit)

  1. Print off 4 articles from the internet that pertain to what we have talked about in class throughout the quarter.  (If we talk about weather, an article on hurricanes is OK, however an article on India is NOT ok if we have been talking about South America.
  2. You will TYPE up a 1/2 to 1 page REACTION ONLY (NO summaries) to each.  (IN YOUR OWN WORDS)
  3. Each article is worth 10 points each.

 

 

Make-up work

WEDNESDAY Morning or Afternoon

Morning you can show up and can work until the 6:55 bell

Afternoon you have to sign up on the sheet near the door.

 

You can make arrnagements with me for another day but I MUST APPROVE IT.

 

You have two Wednesdays to make up a quiz or test.

If problems arise let me know ASAP so that we can work something out.

Grading Scale

Total points

4 tests              200 points each

Quizzes            20 points each (Usually 15-20 a quarter)

Project             60 points 1st and 3rd quarter

                        140 points 2nd and 4th quarter

 

Total                Usually 1400 Ð1500 points

 

 

 

Extra Credit

Participation in class will earn you participation points.  At the end of the quarter all points will be added up and rewarded as follows:

Top 25%                     3 points on your final average

2nd 25%                       2 points

3rd 25%                        1 point

4th 25%                        0 points

 

You can get extra credit for bringing articles or things into class that pertain to the subject we are talking about at that time.

 

 

Discipline

The following are unacceptable behaviors in class

 

Tardies (You are tardy when you are NOT in your seat when the bell rings)

 

Talking without permission

 

Sleeping (You will stand after the first warning)

 

Disrespectful behavior towards the teacher or fellow student

 

Any food, drink, or candy*

 

3 checks  = S

5 checks = N

7 checks= U

 

*Candy and food will result in a detention with me after or before school.  This will occur  when you have gotten three checks for food products.   It is mandatory, failure to show up will result in a referral to the office.
