CONTEMPORARY ISSUES

Contemporary Issues is a semester course that will be offered Fall semester of 2007. The class format is mainly discussion with independent study on various topics (usually in a group setting). There is no assigned textbook with this class, instead we will receive Newsweek Magazine weekly. There are certain units we will study, but our curriculum will be very flexible. Because this is a contemporary issues class our curriculum will be determined by what is going on in the world. Hopefully, we will also have time for debates. Basically , we will look at issues that are facing the nation today, both at home and abroad. Grades will be based on class participation, quizzes and tests, as well as writing assignments and projects. On Fridays, we have open forum discussion with different ethical questions being thrown out for debate.
