CHILD DEVELOPMENT

 

Overview

This is a semester course emphasizing an understanding of the physical, mental, social, and emotional growth and development of children. This course is designed to help young people acquire knowledge and skills essential to the care and guidance of children as a parent and/or caregiver in a child-related career. A "parenting simulation" experience is included in which each student has 72 hours' care of a computerized body called Baby Think It Over. Careers in this area are surveyed.
