COURSE DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

Textbook: Health: A Guide to Wellness (Glencoe Health) 2003
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on concepts and principles of lifetime wellness.
Students completing this course will be better prepared to assume
responsibilities for personal lifetime wellness. Physical education
and sports activities will complement the Lifetime Wellness course.
Students will alternate three-week periods in the classroom and
the gymnasium.
COURSE REQUIREMENT
For the gym:
1. Participation (10 points per day). Student’s must bring a
doctor’s note to be excused from participation. School
trips will not lower grade.
2. Proper dress (10 points per day). Students are required to purchase a
CHS PE Uniform. Cost of the Uniform is $20. Students are required to change
into their PE Uniform prior to class and are not allowed to wear their uniforms
to school.
For the classroom:
1. Textbook
2. Notebook paper
3. Pen and/or pencil
4. Homework
5. Tests
**IF A STUDENT FAILS TO DRESS OUT (WITHOUT A NOTE FROM HOME OR A
DOCTOR), THEIR DAILEY GRADE WILL BE A ZERO FOR THE DAY. THEY WILL STILL BE
REQUIRED TO DO
WARMUP
EXERCISES
AND
WALK.
EVALUTION
In the classroom, students will be graded on a point system. Points
will be accumulated each nine weeks with the following values:
1. Wellness Notebook-daily work-100 points (checked at end of each quarter)
2. Quizzes-Value of 10/20 pts.
3. Chapter Tests-100 pts.
