Classroom Rules
1. Be nice.
2. Work hard.
3. Don't whine.

Consequences
1. First offense: Warning
2. Second offense: Behavior Report* sent home with student
3. Third offense: Behavior Report and phone call to parent
4. Fourth offense: Disciplinary referral

Any extreme behavior will result in immediate call to parent and disciplinary referral.

*A Behavior Report is a one-page report that is sent home with the student. The student is expected to copy the report exactly and return it the following day after having it signed by a parent. If the report is not returned the following day, the student will be expected to copy the report twice. Refusing to copy a Behavior Report will result in disciplinary referral.

Grading Policy
I will grade students on the point system. Each assignment is worth a specific amount of points and students will earn those based on the number of correct responses. The final grade will be determined by the percentage of points the student earned from the total points available

Tests: Usually 100 points each
Major tests will be given at least once per unit. Longer units may have more than one major test. Any test missed due to an excused absence can be made up. If a student wishes to make up a test the student must first bring a green excused absence slip to the teacher. Then the student must set up a day to come either before or after school. All missed tests must be made up within 2 weeks of the student returning to class. Failure to make up a test in this time frame will result in a grade of zero. Tests missed due to unexcused absences cannot be made up and will receive a grade of zero.
Test Retakes: Any student who receives a failing grade on a test will be allowed to retake that test. The highest grade a student may receive on a retake is a 70. If a student wishes to retake a test that he/she failed, he/she must FIRST come to a scheduled tutoring time to have the opportunity to re-learn the material that was missed on that test. The student must then come a second time to retake the test. A student has 2 weeks after receiving a failing grade in which to schedule a retake.

Quizzes: Usually 10 points each
Quizzes will be given almost daily. Quizzes will usually be short four question assignments given at the beginning of class. Students are expected to begin the assignments by the time the bell rings without talking or leaving their seats. Any quizzes missed due to excused absence will not count against the student unless several are missed. Quizzes missed because of an unexcused absence will be given a grade of zero. Material for quizzes comes from the content of lessons that have been previously taught to the student. A student can expect high quiz grades if he/she pays attention in class and completes homework assignments.

Homework: Usually 3 points each
Homework will be assigned and checked almost daily. Students must come to class with homework assignments completed neatly in their notebooks. Homework will usually be checked for completeness although the teacher may choose to grade some assignments for accuracy. Homework will ONLY be accepted late in the case of an excused absence.

Notebook Quiz: Usually 50 points each
All students are expected to maintain a notebook for this class. The notebook should be organized in sections for bellwork, homework, notes, classwork, and graded papers. Notebooks will be checked at least one time per nine-weeks with a notebook quiz. It is VERY important that students label all assignments and notes with dates, page numbers, etc. for this quiz.

Classwork: Points vary
Students will be given assignments to be completed in class as often as time permits. These assignments will be taken up and graded at the teacher’s discretion.

Extra Credit: Points vary
Extra credit will be given in the form of Bonus Quizzes. Students will be gi ven a 4 question quiz which will count for bonus points toward their total points NOT their average.
