Scholarships When these scholarships
become available, they are listed under "Scholarship Information" on
my web page. Look there for application instructions. ________________________________ Collierville
Community Scholarships are awarded to
students who live in the city of Collierville or
attend Collierville High School. (I have listed
a few scholarships that are open to students living
in Shelby County). Most of these scholarships
become available for application in the spring. Announcements are
made on Collierville AM to notify the CHS students when
they
may pick up
applications in the Guidance Office. BankTennessee
- Herman C. Cox Jericho In
keeping with the generous community spirit of Mr. Herman
W. Cox
Jr., former Mayor of Collierville and servant to our community,
we are proud to offer this $1,000 annual scholarship to
those Collierville seniors who meet the following criteria:community
service, extra-curricular involvement, GPA 3.5 and competitive
ACT or SAT scores. 2009

Gatlin Memorial Scholarship Bryan
Gatlin attended CHS until 1986. . Bryan loved his
automotive classes at CHS and his family awards a
scholarship each year in his memory to a technical

Perfect Attendance Award A
U.S. Savings Bond is awarded to CHS students who
have had perfect attendance for four years while
attended CHS. This award does include transfer
students to CHS. See Mr. Field in attendance. 2009

Middle School Alumni Scholarship In
keeping with the generous community spirit of Collierville
Middle
School, the student government and faculty are proud to
offer a $500 scholarship to a CHS senior. Students must
have
a
minimum
GPA of 2.5,
have
financial need, 3 letters of recommendation and write a
short essay. Students must have attended CMS for three
years. The winner will be
invited to the school for a recognition program.

available
in
the

Beta Club Alumni Scholarship (new in 07) In
keeping with the tenets of service and leadership of the
National
Beta Club organization, CMS is proud to offer a $400 scholarship
to a CHS senior with a 3.45 GPA and service to the community.
Applications are available in the CHS guidance office. 2009

High Alumni Scholarship Are
you the child, grandchild, great-grandchild, niece, or
nephew of a CHS alumnus? If you answered yes to that question
then you are eligible to apply for the second annual Alumni
Association Scholarship. Applications
are available in the CHS guidance office. 2009

High School Administration Scholarship Scholarships
are awarded to CHS seniors in three categories:
university path students, technical path students,
and one for school / community service. Students
are asked to fill out an application and write a
short essay. 2009 Deadline: TBA Collierville
Connection The
Collierville Connection is a locally chartered
organization of professional men and women, each
representing a different business category. The
Collierville Connection annually presents an award
to one deserving young man or woman with definite
career goals. The applicant must have a minimum of
3.0 GPA and show leadership and community service
experience. The applicant must also be a resident
of Collierville. A transcript, two recommendations,
resume, and a paragraph on career goals is
required. CHS does not always have a recipient -
open to any Collierville resident. 2009

Rotary Club The
Rotary Club of Collierville, along with a panel of
teachers, selects seniors who have demonstrated
exceptional abilities in three categories:
academics, leadership, and in a technical path
area. In the fall, six students in each category
are selected to be Rotary Students of the Month.
Each month, one person in each category attends the
Rotary luncheon where they are introduced and given
the opportunity to speak to the group. In May, the
Rotary Club awards two scholarships in each of the
three categories. Students must
sign up in Mrs. Comella's office for an interview. Registration
to apply for an interview is the first week of school,
see
Mrs. Comella. Interviews
will take place after school during the second and third
week of school. Resume'

Rotary Club - Herman Osteen Service Above Self
Award A
plaque is awarded to a "Rotary Student of the
Month" senior who has demonstrated exceptional
ability and contribution above and beyond. This
award is given in memory of Herman Osteen, a past
principal of Collierville High School. The winner is announced
at the Senior Awards Program and is selected from the Rotary
Club's "Students of the Month" competition. Collierville
Women's Club Vocational Scholarship The
Collierville Women's Club awards a scholarship to a
CHS graduating senior interested in further
training in the vocational fields, technical
fields, and other areas. Recommendations are
required. 2009 Deadline: TBA Collierville
Youth Athletic Association Scholarship Applicants
must be a resident of Collierville who have
participated in the CYAA Youth Sports Program.
Applicants must be accepted to a four year college.
A 200 word essay is require. Contact the Community Center for
applications and more information. This scholarship is not
presented at the CHS Awards Night. 2009

School (Helen Davis Alumni) Scholarship Crosswind
Elementary School is proud to offer alumni scholarship
to 2
CHS seniors who attended Crosswind Elementary for at least
two full years with a 2.8 GPA or better. A 400 word essay
is required.
This scholarship is not presented at the CHS Awards Night.2009

Richard Forrest and Ella Dudney Kelsey Memorial
Scholarship The
Dr. Richard Forrest and Ella Dudney Kelsey Memorial
Scholarship Fund was established by friends and
family as a tribute to their lifetime commitment of
community service in their respective fields. One scholarship
is given to an applicant who intends to pursue a career
as a
professional educator or to an applicant who intends to pursue
a career in the medical profession. The selection is
based on the applicants' career motivation,
demonstration of financial need, and academic
promise. The scholarship is for individuals who are
pursuing an undergraduate degree. 2009

Osteen Merit Scholarship The
Herman Osteen Scholarship, a past CHS principal, is
given in his memory every year to one outstanding
CHS student. 2009 Deadline: TBA Jasper
Stark Memorial Scholarship Established
in 1962, these scholarships have been awarded to CHS
seniors based on academics, leadership, financial need,
and citizenship
with
the greatest emphasis on academic merit. Jasper
Stark was a Collierville landowner and farmer. He
had no children of his own and left in his will
this annual scholarship for local CHS
students. 2009 Deadline: TBA Matt
Smith Memorial Scholarship Matt
Smith attended CHS from 1997 until 2000. This
memorial scholarship is given by his family. The
recipient of this scholarship must be entering the
University of Memphis, a resident of Shelby County,
and a Collierville High School graduate and seeking a Bachelor
of Science degree. Majors in this field are: biology, chemistry,
computer science, geography, geology, mathematics, microbiology,
and physics. Students pursuing a degree in the field of
Computer Science are
given preference.
2009 Deadline: TBA Morgan
Morton Family Scholarship Morgan
Morton, a resident of Collierville during his early
years, is providing a Collierville High School
and/or Houston High student a scholarship to attend
the University of Memphis. Preference shall be
given to students in need of some financial
assistance in order to attend the University of Memphis and
to students in the Fogelman College of Business.
Eligible students should have a B average with a
desired minimum ACT of 25. Applicants need to include a
resume' to the application form and have completed
the FAFSA form. 2009 Deadline: TBA Mr.
and Mrs. Virge Cox Memorial Scholarship The
Mr. and Mrs. Virge Cox Memorial Scholarship is
given annually to a graduating senior. Mary Louise
Cox, their daughter, taught business at CHS for
over thirty years. Grades, school and community
activities are considered in the selection process.

Hart Memorial Scholarship Since
1973, this scholarship program has offered college
education opportunity for hundreds of Memphis and
Shelby County high school graduates whose financial
needs prohibit their ability to study and
successfully graduate from the college or
university of their own choosing. This year the family yearly
will offer CHS, GHS, and HHS students this memorial scholarship.
Applications must be completed in
detail with copies of all income statements,
grades, and all required signature. This scholarship is not
presented at the CHS Awards Program.2009

Youth Sports Scholarship Applicants
must be a resident of Shelby County who have
participated in the SYAA Youth Sports Program.
Scholastic achievement, financial need, and
school/community service is
used
for the criteria. A short essay, counselor's
signature, and a copy of the student's transcript
is required. Winners are invited to attend their
SYAA awards banquet. 2009 Deadline: TBA The Josephine
Circle, Inc. Scholarship (New in 2008) Founded
in 1914 by the late Mrs. Guston T. Fitzhugh and named in
her honor, The Josephine Circle, Inc. is an organization
of women dedicated to providing scholarships and interest-free
loans to assist students in achieving their educational
goals. Scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded to students
from six high schools in the Shelby County area. These
students must be entering the field of health sciences
(medicine, nursing, dentistry, dental hygiene, physical
therapy, etc) and must have at least at 3.0 GPA. Applications
for an interest free loan are also available. 2009

Beautiful Association of Collierville
Scholarship Applicants
must be attending a two or four year college
majoring in an agriculture or horticulture related
field (forestry, landscaping, etc). A 250 to 500 word essay
on the applicant's career plans is required. No
winner was chosen in 2007, 2008. The 2009 Deadline: TBA Twentieth
Century Club - Mary Louise Cox
Scholarship Mary
Louise Cox is a former CHS business teacher and the Twentieth
Century Club recognizes a CHS student each year. A letter
of acceptance from the institution the applicant will
attend must be included along with a resume and transcript.
Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence; school
and community
involvement;
and a minimum of 3.0 GPA 2009 Deadline:

Century Club - Business Award Applicants
must be a Business and Technology - Technical Path major at
CHS. Only students with 3 business courses at
CHS
qualify
for this award. There are no applications. CHS business
teachers make the selections. |
